Treatment Massage
When muscles become knotted and
tense or damaged, remedial massage provides a healing treatment that
can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. This massage takes care of
soft tissue injuries, muscular aches and pains and postural imbalances.
Remedial massage holistically treats the body (from constipation to
tendinitis to whiplash). Treatments consists of an assessment, a broad
range of hands on massage techniques, hot and cold packs, stretching,
as well as advice on home exercise and follow up treatments.
Sports Massage
Sports massage is used for two
different things, before exercising and after exercising. Before
exercising the massage becomes very stimulating to the muscles, and can
be considered as your warm up massage. This way the muscles are
prepared for the exercise ahead, especially if it's a marathon. After
exercising the massage becomes more relaxation/treatment orientated,
which can be considered as a cool down massage. This will help with
lactic acid build up, which can cause a burning and cramping feeling,
and can help relieve pain for a sports injury that you know you will
feel the next day, such as shin splints.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
A moderate form of massage that
removes excess fluid and stimulates the body’s lymphatic system to
improve blood and lymph circulation and encourage a healthy immune
system. An overworked lymphatic system can leave your body
feeling sluggish, tired and heavy. This massage is especially
useful during times when the body is feeling rundown and generally
unwell. (Also is good to have when lymph nodes are removed, after
injury, and after having a mastectomy)
Pregnancy Massage
A nurturing treatment for expectant
mothers. This massage is a comforting and gently way to alleviate
pregnancy aches and pains such as back pain, leg cramps, tension,
fatigue, headaches, (breast soreness, morning sickness) and
stress. Massage is applied to feet, legs, neck, shoulders and
entire back.
